It is now time to drive “Electric” ….be a world leader, help to save the planet, use no gas, create no emissions, and save a ton of money, so what are we waiting for…..?
Could you just imagine the town of Georgina in Ontario Canada and it’s mayor and council being hailed as “world leaders” , “imaginative” and “creative thinkers” because they were the first to begin replacing all the little town cars that run around and start and stop all day, burning lots of expensive gasoline, with “now available all electric” , federally approved, Canadian made “state of the art” vehicles that cost less than what they are now using and will “refill” from the new wind generator for pennies a refill…. These cars have Zero emissions and leave no carbon footprint due to operation…. It may not be perfection but it is a start and “WE MUST START NOW” electric cars powered from renewable sources for pennies a refill represent the “model T” of this century. The innovators that initiate the “green plans” will have difficulties in convincing the disbelievers but 20 years from now will be hailed as “PEOPLE OF VISION”. I wonder if such visionaries exist and if they could recognize the opportunity that is available ( to start one car at a time and contribute to the energy concept of a new beginning).
This plan is just a product of my imagination but the car is real and the plan is also a very real possibility if we chose to do so.
We have to move on this one – and fast. Let’s crank up that Canadian spirit that developed the national railroad and the Avro Arrow and direct a bit of our generous governmental assistance towards greener automobiles that will truly make a difference. We don’t need designers and engineers to develop more Hummers and SUV’s! It’s time for an all-Canadian car that leads the world and – if we show a genuine political will – it can happen soon! Maybe it’s time that “we the drivers” told the Big 3 and the CAW what’s important to us!

This is a great idea, but I believe that the provincial liberals have not allowed these cars on ontario roads

Really? And where exactly does the money come from to provide this generous government assistance? It seems that this council is always jumping on something new or innovative, or giving money to someone who cannot manage their own money (e.g. Red Barn Theater). Maybe for once the council could actually balance a budget, take care of the town and get off the backs of the taxpayers who are allowing them to be Oh So Generous.

John we do agree on something. I did not agree with any of the town’s pet projects such as the mud hill. What concerns me is that the electric cars issue will just end up another pet project the town throws money on without any thought, even if it ends up not being feasible for some reason.
